課程概述 |
Rather than going through my Springer Verlag monograph of "Flavor Physics and the TeV Scale" (1st Ed. 2009; 2nd Ed. 2019) as in the past, this year we will focus on:
* how the Eureka moment came for my better, more influential papers;
* the inter-action and cross-fertilization between theory and experiment; and
* the state of particle physics with LHC (Run 3 starts in 2022);
--- with my personal "Decadal Mission" (2021-2026 Academic Summit Project, or ASP, of MOST) on
1) Extra Higgs Boson search at LHC;
2) Flavor signals in multiple experiments;
3) Lattice study of 1st order electroweak phase transition, and Landau ghost;
4) Pheno (which has steered the ASP, and will steer further).
This ASP is based on the general 2HDM, two Higgs Doublet Model with Extra Yukawa Couplings, something I have been associated with since 1991, and especially since 2016.
Thus, the purpose is to guide students towards how to grasp insights, how to conduct publishable research, and can be coupled with Guided Topical Research course.
We will start and spend time from my Doctoral to Postdoc years, which may be closer to how one develops a career, where you can also gain a perspective. I had multiple PRLs already during and shortly after my Ph.D., but fully my "own" PRL came after my first postdoc year, and several during my second postdoc, demonstrating ability to find topics & collaborators. These should be taken as hallmarks.
I actually spent a summer at CERN pursuing experiment at end of my first year. So, whether you are theory or experiment inclined (I encourage experiment and NTUHEP!), you are welcome.
We would not focus on details, but on conceptual development ("Eureka" moments). |
